Ayra Starr Eyes Grammy Glory After Making African Music History
Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has her sights set on global milestones, including a Grammy Award, a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.
This bold ambition follows her recent historic achievement as the first African artist to earn a Latin Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The accolade comes from her international hit “Santa”, a collaboration with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, which surpassed 35 million streams.
At just 23, Ayra Starr joins fellow Nigerian star Rema, whose track “Bubalu” is certified Latin Platinum, making them the only African artists with RIAA Latin certifications to date.
With this groundbreaking success, Ayra Starr continues to solidify her position as a leading force in the global Afrobeats movement — and she’s just getting started.
